“To address the stigma and to ensure infections do not spread while burying or cremating of those who died from Covid-19, UNDP’s Disaster Response and Recovery Facility is supporting Al Markazul Islami-AMI in the second phase of training volunteers in ‘Dead Body Management’.The refresher training for the ‘Reserved DBM team’ started on October 7 and has so far trained over 320 people in the basics of managing dead bodies by following rituals of four major religions (Islam, Hinduism, Christianity and Buddhism). Training on managing dead bodies in adverse weather conditions such as rain and storm is also being provided. The trainees are also learning how to ensure no one gets infected with Covid-19 while handling dead bodies.
